We members of the JP community want to support stronger mutual aid networks and a vibrant time bank here in our neighborhood.
There is value in every person. Everyone's needs are valid, and everyone has something to offer, no matter what their traditional "credentials" may suggest. We all have gifts that the market economy may not honor or make use of. We want to find ways to honor those gifts in networks of mutuality.
We realize that different members of the community will participate in mutual aid and time banking for different reasons. Some are motivated by financial concerns, others hope to make community connections, and others bring yet other reasons. We honor and value this diversity.
Lastly, given current large-scale economic and ecological trends, we believe it is an opportune time to experiment with mutual aid, time banking, and alternative forms of exchange.
