Pontiac SUN TimeBank (Strong United Neighbors)

We Give, Get and Connect while building community in the City of Pontiac, Michigan

Founded in 2012, the Pontiac SUN TimeBank was funded from 2012-2016 by the United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM). The grant supported innovative programming in the field of basic needs and the movement of individuals and families along the continuum towards sustainable self-sufficiency. SUN is a partnership of Common Ground, Michigan Alliance of TimeBanks, Lighthouse of Oakland County, Oakland Family Services, Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency (OLHSA), and the Community Housing Network. While Common Ground is our host and fiscal sponsor, our office is located with the Pontiac Regional Chamber, 402 N. Telegraph, Pontiac, MI 48341.

A service exchange or TimeBank is a network of individual, organizational and business members that provide services, track and bank their hours and then spend those hours to get their own needs met. A service exchange is NOT a barter network, since nothing is 'exchanged'. One 'member' provides a friendly, neighborly favor to another and records the time they spent doing so. One hour is one hour no matter who you are or what you do.

Pontiac SUN (Strong United Neighbors) TimeBank and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital (SJMO) are launching an innovative partnership in early 2017 to provide a network of support and caring to help patients heal. If you are interested in sharing your time and talents with patients in need (could be driving to a doctor's appointment, a friendly call or visit, caring for a pet, cooking a healthy meal or providing friendship and support in some manner), please contact us at 248-791-2091 or pontiactime@gmail.com
