HOW DOES TIMEBANKING WORK?

First, the social and more fun way: we have POTLUCK DINNERS once a month, where members and just curious folks can enjoy some tasty food in an easy, comfortable setting.  We meet new members of the group, form ideas about what exchanges could be made and maybe work out details...there's no set agenda at this part of the evening.  We meet at the Church of Christ every third Monday of the month.  The church is located at 2317 W. Grandview, Erie PA

Second, the technical and more efficient way: ONLINE.  We have a website where requests and offers are posted, exchanges are recorded... all the details are kept here.  If you're not particularly adept at web surfing, no worry... the orientation covers the how-to, and there are members who can help you out with this, or log your information for you.

The mission of Erie Timebank is to invite people from all walks of life to learn a new way of helping each other that promotes understanding, equality, giving and receiving, and harmony in neighborhoods and communities.

What is a Time Bank?

A group of people who support each other by exchanging services in response to individual and community needs.

When you spend an hour to do something for someone or a group, you earn a Time Credit.  Then, you can use that Time Credit to receive services for something you need for yourself or your family.

It’s based on the notion that everyone has something to contribute and at one time or another we all could use some help.

THE FIVE CORE VALUES

OF TIME BANKS

1.....ASSETS -  every person is valuable

2.....REDEFINING WORK -  some work is beyond a price, especially work in the home

3.....RECIPROCITY -  helping works better as a two-way street

4.....SOCIAL NETWORKING

5.....RESPECT - Time Banking is based on the notion that EVERYONE has something to offer, and at one time or another we all can use some help.
